The Center for Japanese Studies at the University of Michigan has released lineups for its popular Fall Film Series and its Noon Lecture Series.

This year’s Film Series is a retrospective of the films of acclaimed director Kenji Mizoguchi which runs weekly from September 17 to November 19. Mizoguchi directed early talkie films in the 1930s and his career spanned into the mid-1950s. The on-campus screenings are free, open to the public, and in Japanese with English subtitles; details and a full schedule are available.

The Noon Lecture Series, also free and open to the public, features different lecturers most Thursday noons. If interested, check out the schedule for fall and winter terms.
