The University of Michigan Museum of Art will debut on July 11 what they descibe as a “major re-evaluation” of the works of Georgia O’Keeffe. The exhibit will feature over 35 of her paintings, as well as “paintings by important American artists such as Albert Bierstadt, Martin Johnson Heade, and George Inness … Also included are photographs by O’Keeffe’s husband, Alfred Stieglitz, and noted American photographer Todd Webb.”

  1. O’Keeffe’s stuff is EVERYWHERE here. I guess it’s because she did most of her painting in New Mexico.

I don’t have an opinion on her one way or the other, but if you have the time to check out that exhibit, you should.

And if you have time to take a roadie, and especially if you are a liberal/socialist/various other radical leftist, you should check out Albuquerque and especially Santa Fe. This could very well be paradise for you.

The Sun is out 360 days a year, it snows one month a year but never accumulates, it doesn’t really get hot, the summer nights are cool, and the place is more liberal than Ann Arbor.

I love this place even DESPITE the liberals…

  3. The one thing about O’keeffe is that I can never tell if her paintings are flowers or cleverly disguised multicolored vaginas.
    example:
Music Pink and Blue II 1919

I really don’t like it when people pussyfoot around subject matter (pun intended). That is why I perfer Courbet’s the origin of the world (below).
