The Chelsea Standard reports that the Chelsea Police, Washtenaw County Sheriff, and Michigan State Police conducted simultaneous surprise sweeps of three Chelsea schools for drugs, using a total of seven drug-sniffing dogs and costing the Chelsea Police two days worth of overtime pay. (It’s unclear whether this was the total cost of the operation.) Chelsea Police Chief Scott Sumner hopes to conduct such searches several times a year, claiming that kids can get, “acid and methamphetamine at the lunchroom easier than they can get a Mountain Dew from a pop machine.”

The sweep uncovered a BB gun and no drugs.

  1. I’m curious as to how many Mountain Dews were discovered during the course of the sweep.

When I was in high school in Chelsea, I always got the feeling the local police had entirely too little to do – one of my friends was pulled over and lectured at length for doing 2 under the speed limit – but now they seem to be dragging other agencies into it, too. Swell.

  2. KIDS: Don’t bring your drugs to school! DO YOUR DRUGS AT HOME! Or at that friend’s house where their parents work late…

  3. I’m curious if they searched for steroids in the locker room while they were there.

    Naw.

Its just an isolated gene pool has the entire freshman football team growing brow ridges like Lurch.
