Animal deaths in the area

Posted by MarkDilley on 27. March 2006

In you haven’t heard about this yet. It is pretty bizarre and disturbing:

Two more dead dogs were found in rural eastern Washtenaw County on Sunday, and authorities say the killings may be linked to a series of animal slayings that have occurred since January.
...
Authorities say nearly 40 domestic and wild animals have been found dead in the same general area of Superior Township since January. The dead animals include six dogs, and the rest were coyotes and foxes, Schwartz said.

Calling BR-549...

Posted by Josh Steichmann on 23. March 2006

Founder and former co-front Gary Bennett of BR-549 plays in Ypsi tonight, at the beautiful and historic Elbow Room (stiffle your chuckles).

Creator of some of the best-known modern country music, Bennett’s playing an early gig (9pm) for a measily $7. Get there early, as a venue that size is likely to sell out. This should be an amazing show (as anyone who’s seen classic BR-549 would tell you) in an intimate space (with a pole in the middle). The beers are cheap too.

Ann Arbor Film Festival March 21-March 26

Posted by Juliew on 22. March 2006

The 44th Ann Arbor Film Festival begins tonight. The schedule is now posted. Since this is “A Celebration of Independent & Experimental Film,” there is no telling what the films will be like. You will probably love some and hate some, but they are always thought- and conversation-provoking.

Of course, don’t forget that the Film Festival experience isn’t quite the same unless you stop by Dominicks for dinner first (check out the many years of Film Festival posters on the first floor). Dominicks is open until 10:00 pm.

MPP does NOT endorse divestment from Israel

Posted by David Boyle on 21. March 2006

I hate to post twice in a row, but: The Daily “Wire”, in Karl Stampfl’s MPP would vote for divestment in Israel? Just a rumor , helpfully refutes a widely circulated e-mail which falsely (though maybe not deliberately falsely; people make mistakes) asserts that MPP endorses divestment from Israel. Stampfl: “The allegations have a chance to swing this election. They should not. Both sides are using dirty politics. Let’s talk about the real issues in this election.”
Indeed. (I am not sure who-all is using dirty politics, but no one should…) This present AU post is not endorsing MPP (or condemning any other party) at all, but just trying to keep people accurately informed, so as to help avoid seeing the election “thrown” by erroneous accusations at the last minute.
